Oil on Canvas
15 x 20 in
Inspired by a powerful scene I witnessed in a small Tibetan town. After death, skulls left behind to build walls or scattered on the ground, awaiting their place.
Reshaping the view of life and death, the human body is no different from other forms in nature.
To create this piece, I embarked on a 16,800-kilometer journey across China, gathering inspiration from this extraordinary ritual.

In loving memory of my oil painting teacher, Wei Jiang,
who left us 2024 July.
He was the most vibrant soul I’ve ever known and the one who awakened my passion for art. His boundless curiosity, warmth, and dedication shaped not only my craft but also my understanding of life. To me, he was more than a teacher—he was a guiding light and a true inspiration. This space in my portfolio is dedicated to him, honoring the colors he brought to my world and the indelible mark he left on my life journey.
